The 2026 O-Level results will be released tentatively between Wednesday, 13 January and Friday, 15 January 2027, and the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) opens at 4pm the same day. Students then have six calendar days, counting results day, to apply for junior college, Millennia Institute, polytechnic and ITE courses, with posting results due at 9am on Tuesday, 2 February 2027 (tentative).

This round has a twist: MOE says a new Post-Secondary Admissions Exercise will replace the JAE from 2028, which makes January 2027 the last JAE in its current form. Here is the full timeline, what each date asks of your teenager, and a plan for results week.

At a glance

  • O-Level results: tentatively 13 to 15 January 2027, says MOE's national examinations dates page.
  • JAE applications: from 4pm on results day to 4.30pm on the sixth calendar day, through the JAE Internet System with Singpass, per MOE's JAE page.
  • Form A: emailed on the afternoon of results day to eligible candidates, listing aggregate scores and eligible courses.
  • Posting results: 9am on Tuesday, 2 February 2027 (tentative). Students posted to a junior college or Millennia Institute report on the morning of Wednesday, 3 February.
  • Appeals: for polytechnic and ITE 2-year Higher Nitec places, from 9am on 2 February to 4pm on Friday, 5 February 2027 (tentative).
  • From 2028: the JAE gives way to a single Post-Secondary Admissions Exercise using the new Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate (SEC) results.

When are the 2026 O-Level results released?

MOE's national examinations dates page gives a tentative window of Wednesday, 13 January to Friday, 15 January 2027; it has not yet named the exact day. Candidates collect results at school. MOE's JAE page says a student who cannot collect them can nominate another adult using MOE's proxy form.

For families with an N-Level candidate, the same page gives the 2026 N(A)- and N(T)-Level results tentatively between Thursday, 17 December and Monday, 21 December 2026. Next steps for N-Level students differ, so ask the school's Education and Career Guidance (ECG) counsellor.

How does the JAE 2027 application window work?

MOE says the application runs for "6 calendar days starting from the day of the O-Level results release", opening at 4pm on results day and closing at 4.30pm on the last day. The JAE Internet System is available 24 hours a day during that period, and applications can only be submitted with Singpass, so register before results day.

Our arithmetic for the three possible results days, counting results day as day one:

  • Results on Wednesday, 13 January: applications close at 4.30pm on Monday, 18 January.
  • Results on Thursday, 14 January: applications close at 4.30pm on Tuesday, 19 January.
  • Results on Friday, 15 January: applications close at 4.30pm on Wednesday, 20 January.

Confirm the dates when MOE announces the release day; these are calculations, not MOE's dates.

What is on Form A?

MOE's Form A guide says eligible candidates receive Form A by email on the afternoon of results day. It shows:

  • The subjects and grades used, plus the CCA grade.
  • Gross aggregate scores for each route, excluding bonus points: L1R5 for junior college, L1R4 for Millennia Institute, ELR2B2 types for polytechnic diplomas, and ELB4-A, ELR1B3-B and ELR2B2-C for ITE 2-year Higher Nitec.
  • Eligible courses, meaning courses whose minimum entry requirements the student meets.

Meeting the requirements does not guarantee a place. MOE says posting depends on the net aggregate score (after bonus points), the courses chosen, vacancies and the number and scores of other applicants. The JAE page defines the net aggregate as the gross aggregate minus bonus points, and notes that CCA records had to be checked by 25 September 2026.

What happens after the application closes?

From MOE's JAE page, all tentative:

  1. 9am, Tuesday 2 February 2027: posting results on the JAE Internet System and by SMS. The net aggregate score ranges for 2027 courses are updated in SchoolFinder and CourseFinder the same day.
  2. Wednesday 3 February: students posted to a junior college or Millennia Institute report to the school in the morning, in secondary school uniform.
  3. 2 February and end-February: ITE enrolment instructions arrive by email on 2 February; polytechnic instructions by end-February.
  4. 2 to 5 February: appeals. For a junior college or Millennia Institute, approach the school directly. For a polytechnic or ITE 2-year Higher Nitec place, use the JAE Online Appeal Portal between 9am on 2 February and 4pm on 5 February.

Why is January 2027 the last JAE?

MOE's Full SBB secondary school experience page says that from 2028 a new Post-Secondary Admissions Exercise will replace the JAE, the Polytechnic Foundation Programme admissions exercise and ITE's Joint Intake Exercise for 2-year and 3-year Higher Nitec. The same page adds that the first Full Subject-Based Banding cohort sits the new SEC in 2027 and receives results in a single release in January 2028, that students will apply through a common portal accessed with Singpass, and that choice order will become a posting tie-breaker in the new exercise.

For this year's candidates, nothing changes: the familiar JAE, aggregates and Form A apply. For younger siblings, our guide to Full SBB subject levels after the PSLE explains how the new system starts in Secondary 1.

What if the haze disrupts the O-Level papers?

At a haze press conference on 16 October 2026, Education Minister Desmond Lee said O-Level candidates sit papers in enclosed, air-conditioned venues with air purifiers, and that MOE would consider rescheduling O-Level papers if the 24-hour PSI forecast reaches Hazardous. Candidates who are unwell should see a doctor, get a medical certificate and apply for special consideration through their school, according to his press conference remarks. Our haze and school closure guide has the details.

A plan for results week

Our suggestions:

  1. Before results day: check that your teenager's Singpass works and that their email inbox is the one MOE has on record.
  2. Shortlist before the slip arrives: list several courses at different net aggregate ranges, using last year's ranges in SchoolFinder and CourseFinder as a rough guide only.
  3. Results afternoon: read Form A together and strike out anything not listed as eligible.
  4. Day two or three: talk to the school's ECG counsellor if the results change the plan, and order the choices.
  5. A day before the deadline: submit, then save the acknowledgement.
