Exploria or Curiosity Cove? Choosing a Mandai indoor day out

If you are choosing one paid day for the school holidays and want a roof over it, Mandai now has two indoor options that suit different children. Exploria, which opened on 3 March 2026, is an indoor multimedia attraction. Curiosity Cove, open since 21 November 2025, is a timed-entry playscape for children aged 3–12.

Neither is a cheap afternoon. The useful question is which one your children will actually enjoy for the time you are paying for, and whether the listed hours fit the day you have in mind.

What is Exploria?

Mandai’s launch announcement describes a 10,000-square-metre indoor, nature-themed multimedia attraction, which it calls one of Southeast Asia’s largest. Its five themed worlds are Realm of the Giants, Micro Worlds, Bitdeer AI Extreme Frontiers, Infinite Wonderland and World of Darkness, built around prehistoric eras, extreme habitats, microscopic ecosystems and the darkness of the deep ocean.

That is the operator’s description; we have not visited. On paper, it suits children who enjoy big visuals and stories about animals and places, and families who want an outing adults and children can do together. What is Curiosity Cove, and who is it for?

Mandai’s opening release calls Curiosity Cove Singapore’s largest indoor nature-inspired playscape, designed for children aged 3–12. Entry is by allocated timeslot, mainly in two-hour blocks, and one S$48 ticket covers a child plus one accompanying adult.

It is a play space first. A child who wants to climb and explore has two hours to do it; a child who prefers watching may get more from Exploria. If you have a toddler under three or a teenager with you, check the admission rules before assuming everyone can go in.

What will a family of four pay?

An illustrative calculation at the standard prices listed when we checked, for two adults and two children:

• Exploria: two adults at S$38 and two children at S$28 comes to S$132, before any WildPass discount.
• Curiosity Cove: two children at S$48 comes to S$96, with each ticket covering one accompanying adult, provided both children are aged 3–12.

Transport and food are extra. Prices, discounts and Exploria’s age bands can change, so check the booking page before paying.

Which day and time should you choose?

Curiosity Cove’s visitor page lists longer hours on school holidays, so a weekday during the year-end break has the 6.30pm closing rather than the term-time 5.30pm. A two-hour slot fits a morning and leaves the afternoon for rest.

Exploria’s later closing suits an afternoon-into-evening plan. Mandai’s launch release gave an 11am weekday opening, while its Exploria guide lists 12pm, with last admission an hour before closing, so check the Exploria page when you book.
